Located to the northwest of Amsterdam on the North Sea, the port of Ijmuiden offers daily crossings to Newcastle in England and is also a major fishing port. Ijmuiden provides an alternative way in which to reach Amsterdam from the northeast of England.

Passenger facilities at the terminal are limited to a convenience store, a gift shop and newsagents, with vending machines offering a range of hot and cold snacks.


The ferry terminal provides good access for those in wheelchairs and a large car park has short-term and long-term spaces, as well as reserved disabled parking.

Ferry Services


Ferry crossings run from Ijmuiden to Newcastle in England, and are provided by DFDS Seaways. Two ships run this route, with an overnight sailing in each direction and a journey time of 15 hours.

DFDS Seaways ships have excellent facilities, with a range of shops, eateries and entertainment options, as well as business and conference facilities. Both ships provide a range of office equipment and a meeting room.
