DFDS Seaways is a well-known and respected passenger and freight ferry company which operates ships of very high standards on many routes throughout Europe.


DFDS operates just two ships on the Ijmuiden to Newcastle route. There are daily overnight departures in either direction aboard well-equipped, conventional ferries. Crossing times are 15 hours in either direction.

Departure times are 18:00 from Ijmuiden and 17:30 from Newcastle, with ferries arriving at their destinations at 09:00 (Newcastle) and 09:30 (Netherlands) the following morning respectively.

The King of Scandinavia and the Queen of Scandinavia are both new additions to the fleet and make the journey to and from Ijmuiden. Onboard passenger facilities are superb, with quality cabins, comfortable passenger lounges, a range of shops, restaurants and bars, and even business and conference facilities.
